How Do We See?

We each have eyes that perform very much like a camera.

The eye has lenses which focus the light to form an image at the retina (the camera film of the eye).

The signal produced by the eye travels through a cable called the optic nerve.

The cable delivers the signal to the brain, where the information is processed and interpreted as vision.

We need all three components connected together in order to see - The camera, the cable and the brain.

What is Cataract?

Cataract describes the gradual clouding of the natural lens that resides within the eye. Light will not be able to easily pass through a cloudy lens and thus will not provide a clear focused image at the retina.

What is Cataract Surgery?

Cataract surgery is when we remove the cloudy centre of the natural lens and in the remaining shell, we place a clear plastic lens.

Thus, restoring light penetration and focus.
